Choosing a Tempo Traveller in Delhi: Seating, Facilities & Trip Quote Checklist

Udan Travel planning guide · Updated 19 October 2026

A group trip from Delhi needs more than a seat count. Airport luggage, multiple hotel pickups, a long highway day or a wedding return can change the vehicle and quotation you need. Before comparing Tempo Traveller offers, prepare the same journey brief for every provider: dates, pickup, stops, passengers, bags and final drop.

Standard and Maharaja seating: what changes?

Standard and Maharaja advertisements can describe different cabin layouts. A 1×1 layout has one seat on either side of the aisle; a 2×1 layout has a two-seat side and a one-seat side. Confirm the actual layout, approved passenger capacity and separate driver seat. Do not treat the word “Maharaja” as a guarantee that every cabin is identical.

Choose the vehicle around your travellers and luggage together. Ask about boarding steps, legroom and the facilities that matter to the group. A sofa bed is a cabin feature, not an automatic increase in approved passenger seating. For category information and a written enquiry, explore Delhi Tempo Traveller options from Udan Travel.

Six facilities worth confirming

  • AC: confirm it on the offered vehicle and discuss route-specific requirements.
  • Pushback seating: request the actual row layout and interior photo.
  • Music: check the available system if entertainment is important.
  • Charging: confirm the type and availability rather than assuming a port at every seat.
  • Sofa bed: ask which cabin has it and how it affects the layout.
  • Luggage carrier: share bag counts and confirm suitable storage and weather protection.

These are questions to confirm, not a promise that every advertised vehicle has every facility. Keep the aisle clear and leave all necessary passenger seats available.

Local hire and outstation tours need different quotes

A local sightseeing duty should name the included hours and kilometres, reporting address, selected visits, waiting and final drop. A direct airport transfer is a different service. For an outstation tour, specify whether you need a one-way drop, a return journey or the vehicle retained during the stay.

A per-kilometre quotation should identify the agreed rate, billable distance, daily minimum if any and where kilometre counting begins and ends. Check driver allowance, overnight expenses, tolls, permits, parking and taxes. Ask how additional stops or another vehicle day change the total. Get cancellation and payment terms before the advance.

Airport and railway group pickups

For IGI airport arrivals, provide the flight, date, confirmed terminal, bags and hotel or onward destination. Agree on the permitted meeting point, waiting allowance and pickup coordinator. Baggage collection and immigration can separate landing time from actual boarding.

For New Delhi, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin or another station, share the station, train and arrival details. Confirm the exit and where the group can board with bags. Multiple arrivals may need separate transfer planning. For departures, allow time for loading, city traffic and check-in or platform access.

Plan a workable group itinerary

For a Delhi–Agra day trip, list the selected monuments, entry arrangements, meal break and planned return. For a Delhi–Jaipur or longer North India tour, add overnight towns and hotel addresses. Hill destinations may have hotel-access restrictions or excursions needing separate local arrangements; discuss those before booking rather than assuming the touring vehicle reaches every attraction.

For Delhi sightseeing, select visits around the group’s pace, including walking and queues. A smaller realistic list is more useful than a promise to cover every landmark. Guides, tickets, meals and hotels are included only when named in the accepted offer.

Before confirming the booking

  1. Review current vehicle photographs, capacity and luggage fit.
  2. Put all boarding points and overnight stops in travel order.
  3. Compare the complete total for the same itinerary and inclusions.
  4. Keep the written terms, booking acknowledgement and pickup contact.
